About the Role
As the Environment Manager, you will manage the operational environmental performance of Ausnet Services whilst also developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental strategies to promote sustainable development and preparedness for all relevant environmental regulations.
This role will see you leading, coaching, and mentoring the business to implement a culture of continuous improvement.
The key to success in this role is to successfully promote compliance with environmental regulatory obligations, whilst actively contributing to Divisional and HSEQ team initiatives, effectively engaging stakeholders along with delivering assigned HSEQ improvement initiatives.
This role will report to the GM HSEQ & Compliance / HSEQ Centre of Excellence Manager and is located at Southbank, Victoria.

What you will deliver
- Champion active environmental protection and management including educating the business on its requirements relating to work activities that could affect human health or the environment.
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Provide supervision, educational training and undertake clearly defined inspectorial duties on environmental issues and responsibilities applying to staff carrying out environmental projects and programs.
- Develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies, policies and practices with a view to meeting targets and encouraging best practices.
- Promote, raise awareness and lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices at all levels of the organisation.
- Actively engage with leadership and lead the implementation of the HSEQ strategy within allocated division/s.
- Identify risk reduction measures and opportunities to improve Environmental Management Systems.
- Ensure compliance through actively engaging with stakeholders and maintain a working knowledge and understanding of relevant Environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice, standards, etc. Influence continuous improvement and positive outcomes so they are viewed as adding value.
- Contribute to our ability to deliver our services by demonstrating an understanding of work health safety and cyber security standards and applying them to relevant activities in the workplace.
- Contribute to a Recordable Injury Frequency Rate targets and mission Zero health & safety targets.
What we like about you
- A relevant bachelors or higher qualification in either environmental science, management, or a related field
- Risk management skills with demonstrated environmental risk assessment experience
- HSEQ Procedure/systems development experience
- Environmental Legislation knowledge and OHS preferred
- Data analytics and reporting experience
- Workforce consultation and issue resolution skills
- Demonstrated management of a number of projects simultaneously from conception to implementation and realisation of program objectives
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, leadership and people management capabilities, including driving performance and behavioural outcomes through others
- Strategic thinking and the ability to influence change.
