Work Location: Fortescue Centre. Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Environmental Advisor in Mining Approvals to join the Fortescue Environmental Approvals Team, to support the company's current and future iron-ore mining operations within the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Key to the success of this position will be the ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with all levels within the organisation, particularly mentoring team members. Personal commitment, competence and initiative, consistency, reliability and a practical innovative approach are crucial elements of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality environmental approvals that are aligned with business objectives for access to ground.
- Develop and participate in environmental risk assessments to inform approval applications
- Preparation and submission of Fortescue's Environmental Approval applications including but not limited to mining proposals and licence amendment applications.
- Coordinate and negotiate stakeholder consultations with, but not limited to internally with functional approval teams, and externally with regulatory authorities and community.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Mining Act and Environmental Protection Act.
- Provide environmental approvals advice and the development of approval strategies to meet business requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary Degree in Environmental Science, or equivalent
- Desired - 5 - 8 years' experience in an environmental role within the resources industry or an associated government department
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of State and Federal environmental legislation
- Advanced reporting writing, interpersonal and communications skills
- A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications
- Desired knowledge and understanding of the Pilbara environment
