Working across the organisation, our Environment teams strive to drive positive environmental and social outcomes for current and future generations.We have an exciting opportunity available within the OMTID division in the role of Senior Environment Advisor. This role will contribute to the delivery of public transport infrastructure projects, working within the OMTID environmental team. We are also looking to create a pool of skilled professionals suitable to the Environmental Advisor role, to draw on as future opportunities arise.The successful candidate will provide professional and technical support on environmental matters consistent with statutory regulations, the PTA’s environmental obligations and its Environmental Management System. This will include the oversight, monitoring and reporting of environmental compliance requirements on new railway infrastructure projects currently in delivery, preparation of briefing and scopes for the engagement of environmental consultants in accordance relevant PTA policies and procedures, ongoing communication with our project management and contractor project delivery teams and preparation of project handover resources for PTA’s operational teams. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to prepare applications for environmental approvals and manage the processes to final completion.Applicants must possess a current and valid ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.Senior Environmental Advisor – Level 6To ensure success in this role you will possess:
- Relevant environmental expertise, including:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines and/or extensive relevant experience.
- Sound understanding of environmental legislation and its application.
- Relevant practical experience in managing environmental consultants.
- Relevant practical experience in the environmental management of infrastructure construction projects.
- Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, revegetation, dewatering, Aboriginal Heritage and noise and vibration, and how these affect planning, design, construction and operation of major transport systems or infrastructure projects.
- Experience in leadership and management, including the ability to lead, mentor and coach others and effectively manage resources.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability: to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders; and to negotiate required outcomes and resolve conflict.
- Relevant environmental expertise, including:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines.
- Sound understanding of environmental legislation and its application.
- Relevant, practical experience in environmental management.
- Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as flora and vegetation, fauna, offsets, revegetation, contamination, groundwater management, Aboriginal heritage, and noise and vibration.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), including and good negotiation, facilitation and relationship building skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical, research and evaluation skills, including the ability to analyse information and data and provide reports relating to the findings.
