Founded in 1894, Ghella operate in the construction of large public projects and specialise in underground excavation and tunnelling works. Over the course of 120 years, we have built over 130 tunnels and connected more than 1,000 km’s of highways, railways and subways.
Operating in Australia since 2010, we are working on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country and have established a recognised presence in the local infrastructure market. Our first project in Australia, Legacy Way, was named ‘Best Tunnelling Project in the World’ in 2013 and since then we have continued to take on some of the countries’ most crucial and challenging projects.
We are currently delivering in partnership with leading construction companies, projects that make a difference to the community with some of our current projects including Cross River Rail in Brisbane, Sydney’s M6 Stage 1, Sydney Metro West - Western Sydney Airport and Eastern Tunnelling package.

The Opportunity
As an Environmental Advisor you will support the delivery of the construction and handover over phase of a major infrastructure project.
You will be responsible for providing environmental advice and guidance to our project teams, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and supporting our company's commitment to sustainability.
Some of the role’s key accountabilities include;
- Provide environmental advice and guidance to project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients, ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimise environmental impacts.
- Assist with the development and implementation of environmental management plans for the project.
- Develop and deliver environmental training to project teams and stakeholders.
- Monitor environmental performance, including the collection and analysis of data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare environmental reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and clients.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on environmental matters.
About You
The successful candidate will have;
- Degree or equivalent in Environmental Sciences, Engineering or suitably applicable fields
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in the construction sector
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for the Environment and Sustainability and driving innovation
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
