As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The Estimates team provides senior liaison and support to the Office of the Minister for Fire and Disaster Recovery and Commissioner, QFES through the provision of ministerial, executive and corporate communications services, and providing high standard correspondence and government briefing documentation in a timely manner.
Reporting to the Estimates Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the management of the Estimates process, in the preparation and coordination of briefing material and high-level support for the Commissioner and Minister to ensure the quality, accuracy and timeliness of all material, reports, submissions and responses aligns with whole-of-government, departmental and divisional requirements.

Understanding of Cabinet, Parliamentary, Executive Council and machinery of government processes will be highly regarded.
Experience using a correspondence and tracking system.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
Ensure effective liaison with the Office of the Minister and Commissioner regarding the parliamentary Estimates process and appropriate service delivery.
Coordinate the preparation and delivery of briefing material for the Minister and Commissioner to assist them in preparing for and taking part in the Estimates Committee Hearing.
Implement and manage effective workflow systems and processes to ensure Estimates' related tasks and deadlines are delivered and met.
Provide quality control and editing of briefing material and ensure a consistent approach to format/content while also detecting and resolving errors/issues.
Maintain an awareness of current affairs and other issues relevant to the Minister and the Commissioner that may be subject of the Estimates Committee questions and queries.
Provide appropriate advice to staff and officers across the department regarding the Estimates process and associated parliamentary procedures and functions.
