Events Management Queensland is a major events company based on the Gold Coast that manages the Gold Coast Marathon, Toowoomba Marathon and the Pan Pacific Masters Games. Areas of Responsibility:
To work under the direction of the Senior Event Manager to assist in the delivery of operations for the events managed by EMQ. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee all on course operational direction and successful delivery of the event and all on course operations.
- Co-lead the management all matters relating to the courses, including but not limited to layout, measurement, liaison with authorities, start times, on course vehicle movements, management of aid stations, supervising zone leaders, training volunteers, briefing crew, liaison with medical personnel, signage placement, race day bump in and bump out.
- Co-lead the development and review of course plans, road closures, TMP & TGS, start lines, course zones, race times, cut off times, kilometre markers and aid stations locations and course personnel roles.
- Manage course crews during the construction and direct course preparations, delivery, and deconstruction phases of the event.
- Work with all EMQ departments to plan and deliver an integrated event solution.
- Maintain and work within set budgets.
- Oversee event build and pack down which includes the management of suppliers.
- Oversee the delivery, storage and return of supplies and infrastructure.
- Review build schedules and event day run sheets and implement.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of event personnel.
- Assist with the delivery of the Occupational Health and Safety requirements for the event venues and courses and contribute to risk management planning.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders, suppliers, contractors or EMQ staff and minute discussions.
- Liaise and maintain a good relationship with existing contracted suppliers and stakeholders.
- Assist participating sports in the planning, organisation and conduct of their sporting program as part of the Pan Pacific Masters Games.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of event precincts.
- Assist with event signage plans.
- Any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
- Provide detailed post event reports.
Background and Skills Required:
Experience:
- Demonstrated and proven successful experience in a similar role for three or more years.
- Experience in events management, event planning, event construction, sport and/or tourism is preferred.
Skills Required:
- Capacity to lead and manage a site crew during the construction, delivery, and deconstruction of a major event.
- Project management skills, particularly the ability to schedule and plan the logistical requirements of the construction and deconstruction phases of the company’s events.
- Ability to manage a large workforce during event delivery phase and assume a management role in overseeing course and venue operations.
- Demonstrated ability to train event personnel and volunteer groups in preparation for race day.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate event suppliers and effectively liaise with event stakeholders.
- Be well groomed and possess a personal appearance suitable for liaison with the event stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level computing skills using MS Word, Office 365 Planner, Access and Excel in a Windows and Windows Network environment or later versions of this software.
- Possession of positive interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present written and verbal reports.
- Demonstrated understanding of current Workplace, Health and Safety legislation and issues and ability to contribute to risk management and construction safety planning.
- Ability to work abnormal hours and travel where required.
- Ability to travel where required.
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of inter-office protocols, especially in relation to respect for authority, privacy, and confidentiality, and following directions.
- Demonstrated ability of taking initiative when managing, developing and delegating tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and avoid conflict with and between event stakeholders.
- Possession of positive time management skills.
- Hold and maintain a current driver’s license.
