About the role
We’re seeking an experienced and innovative leader to manage and coordinate a team of professional event officers to deliver specialist expertise in the field of major events, civic events and event attraction.
As part of the Venue & Events Branch, the Events Program Leader is crucial to the success of our Council. It is important that you have senior leadership experience to cultivate and empower a motivated team, showcasing expertise in translating complex information into straightforward and impactful concepts.
As a senior leader you will be required to also oversee the planning, delivery and review of Council’s major events to provide professional event strategy advice to elected members, management and staff. This role will require you to exercise a degree of autonomy to implement initiatives for the continual development of our Council and the City of Logan public image.

You will have:
- Demonstrated experience:
♦ developing and delivering a strategic event programs.
♦ creatively solving problems.
♦ planning, programming, producing, and delivering commercial scale events.
♦ high level budgeting & reporting and acquittal.
- A demonstrated understanding of event delivery within a government, peak body, or major commercial environment.
- Proven track record in delivering major public events that demonstrates creativity and effective project management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective long-term working relationships in a corporate environment, including the ability to liaise and influence all stakeholders.
- Proven ability to analyse situations, work proactively in a team environment to develop innovative event and partnerships that align with Branch and corporate strategies.
- Highly developed leadership and people skills and demonstrated ability to act effectively as a leader of a professional team.
- Excellent working knowledge of contemporary management principles and human resource practices within a complex multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and ability to operate effectively within a political environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with a broad range of stakeholders and to make prompt, reliable decisions within the bounds of allocated responsibilities.
- Possession of a diploma or higher qualifications in a relevant field will be highly regarded.
- Have flexibility to assist outside of standard business hours if required during major events.
Minimum role requirements:
- Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence.
- Ability to successfully pass all background related checks including immunisations as required for this role and a national police check.
- Demonstrated experiences listed above.
