The Faculty of Science is the fifth largest in student enrolments and the second largest in terms of research revenue of the six faculties at UTS. It is also the second-largest in terms of total academic and support staff. The Faculty's organisational structure comprises two Schools, two research institutes, a range of specialist research facilities, a Technical Services unit and general Faculty administrative services.
About the Role
In support of our endeavour to undertake excellent research that delivers global impact, UTS is developing a culture of collaborative engagement between the faculties and the central research service units, between faculties themselves and externally through deliberate and strategic engagement with end-users of our research. This position supports Faculty engagement activities related to research and the development of new engagement and funding opportunities for the Faculty.
The Faculty BD Officer works in a specialised team of industry engagement and Business Development specialists that generate external partnerships to fund applied research projects and programs. This role develops and implements strategies and activities that result in an increased volume of research funding from industry, government and grant funding bodies and assists with research translation opportunities that will deliver impact from research generated intellectual property (IP). Due to the customer-facing nature of this role, the position will be predominately based on campus with the flexibility of one day remote working per week after completing probation.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
• Good interpersonal, communication, time and project management skills
• Knowledge of the current Australian Higher Education environment, particularly best practice in research engagement strategy and implementation
• Tertiary qualifications (postgraduate desirable) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training
• Demonstrable experience in engaging with end-users of research
• Demonstrable relationship management experience
Remuneration
Base Salary Range: $115,265 to $131,274 pa (HEW 8)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
