About the Role:

This is a Casual position within the Family Healthcare Support Team.

You will be responsible for providing care to children with complex medical needs in their home environment or other appropriate settings. The provision of this support allows parents of children who require frequent medical interventions or have the potential for deterioration to take time out.

Whether you have previous experience as a Support Worker or are ready for a new challenge, we will support you through our in-house training program to enable the delivery of safe healthcare interventions. Support is delivered independently, with care often provided in the absence of parents in line with the child's specific care plan.

What you'll achieve:

Are you looking to make a difference, gain a sense of achievement or to start your career in healthcare? If so, this role will introduce you to a world of opportunities including:

  • Completion of the RCH Healthcare Support Worker training program
  • Knowledge and expertise on providing medical care interventions for children with complex healthcare needs within the scope of the Support Worker training
  • Play a crucial role in improving the quality of life and promoting independence for the children and families you support.
  • Regular support shifts with the ability to increase hours when shifts become available
  • Becoming part of a World class leading healthcare organisation and contribute to the RCH Vision of "a world where all kids thrive".

Classification for this position will be a HCE41 (Home Care Employee Level 4 - Pay Point 1)

Your skills and experience:

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated workers to provide care to children with complex medical needs in their home and/or the community with:

  • An interest and passion for providing quality care.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and technology within the scope of this role.
  • Good communication skills and a professional demeanour
  • An ability to travel independently to and from workplace.
  • Efficient computer skills to connect with team members and document care provided.

About Family Healthcare Support:

The RCH Family Healthcare Support Team provide trained workers to care for children with medical complexity at home. This provision allows parents of children who require frequent medical interventions the time to rest and attend to other responsibilities. Support shifts are provided for eligible children known to the RCH Complex Care Hub or through NDIS funding. Workers are based throughout the state of Victoria and provide care to children in their local area. This remote workforce is coordinated through a central team onsite at the RCH.

Family Healthcare shifts are provided by a trained Support Worker who undertakes child focused training and operates within strict parameters clearly documented in a child's specific care manual. Workers maintain a safe environment for the children they support, delivering all care required during the shift, including identifying and responding to predictable changes in care.

What we offer:

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Varied days and times available
  • Salary Packaging - Increase your take home pay!

Other requirements:

  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
  • Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure

Application process:

To apply, you will need a resume and a tailored cover letter outlining your skills, experience, and suitability for the position in line with the requirements of the position description.

Shortlisting for this position will commence immediately, we encourage you to apply promptly!
