Tawarri Pastoral have properties in Cunnamulla, Barcaldine, Glenmorgan and Merriwa. We are looking for a mixed farming manager with cropping, pasture and cattle husbandry experience or a willingness to learn on our Earlwood and Nellybri properties in the Glenmorgan/ Surat area.
The aggregation farms winter crop, summer crop and pasture rotation and an Angus breeder herd of cattle backgrounded for local feedlots.
We are predominantly interested in your knowledge of broadacre farming systems and any exposure to cattle husbandry. The Farm Manager will be executing all aspects of summer and winter dryland cropping, pasture production, cattle water points and cattle husbandry under instruction from Agronomists and the off farm owner.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar farm management role.
- Ability to execute a plan, making the necessary adjustments in-season to maximise profitability.
- Leadership capabilities,
- Experience working with Precision Ag cropping technologies and techniques.
- Broadacre/agriculture/large scale operation experience (desired).
- GPS spraying knowledge (desired).
- ChemCert chemical handling certificate.
- Stock Husbandry knowledge and experience (desired)
- Pasture and water reticulation knowledge.
- Attention to detail and take personal responsibility for your work.
- Able to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- The ability to work independently under instruction from the absentee owner.
- Must be willing to take on responsibility.
- Good communication skills as you will be liaising with agronomists, some contractors and other on farm staff at peak times.
- Able to take constructive direction in a positive manner.
- Adaptability. Changing seasonal conditions often demand changing management decisions.
- A calm demeanour and all-round positive attitude
- Capability with general farm repairs, maintenance and farm development including but no exclusively fencing, water reticulation systems and general plant
- Must treat the employer’s tools, equipment and vehicles with care and respect
- Willing to work in with and incorporate advice from outside specialists
- To ensure that at all times work is carried out in a manner which complies with the requirements of the Health & Safety in Employment Act, its amendments and regulations and the Health & Safety Policies and Procedures of the property.
Salary negotiable based on experience. A 4 bedroom home and work vehicle included in package.
