Fermentation Plant Manager
Steric is a medium-sized food manufacturer business located in Fairfield, Sydney. We have been in operation for 50 years and produce a range of products including sauces, mayonnaise, juices, drinks and soups.
In 2020, Steric built and commissioned a small, stand-alone Fermentation Plant to produce nutritional supplements and fermented sauces. There is now a large body of scientific evidence demonstrating the health benefits of fermented foods and Steric aims to be a leading producer of small volume, specialised fermented food products. The plant consists of fermentation and mixing tanks, powder processing equipment, a liquid filling line and a powder filling line.
The Fermentation Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the plant operation including managing staff (currently 1 x supervisor and 2 x operators), scheduling and communication with customers, ordering raw materials/packaging and managing inventory. Being a small team, the position is very hands on. The plant runs 24/7 and while the equipment is automated, a moderate level of off-site monitoring is required and it is necessary to come into the plant if there are issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
The successful candidate will have a degree in engineering or science, at least several years experience in manufacturing and be looking to build a career in manufacturing management. This is a great training opportunity as while the plant is small, it is technically complex and experience in all aspects of manufacturing management will be obtained.
