The Mendi Group require the services of a Civil Construction Site Safety Officer who has a hands-on approach.
The role requires inspection and monitoring of all project sites to ensure compliance.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Be a confident communicator who recognises the essential role of every person on site.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role and/or have familiarity with safety systems and processes in civil construction.
- Have a working knowledge of WHS legislation.
- Qualified in Health & Safety (essential)
- Have an unencumbered driver's license.
- Be a good time management skills and be able to effectively prioritise with multiple stakeholders,
- Have a Construction White Card
- Be an enthusiastic advocate for safety with the ability to influence others.
- Have or be willing to obtain a first aid/CPR qualification.
In this role, you will:
- Travel to sites in and around Townsville (this is a field-based role)
- Participate in pre-start meetings and run toolbox talks.
- Conduct and document regular inspections and internal audits of Mendi Sites.
- Ensure compliance with Mendi Safety Management System.
- Review and monitor HSE documentation, risk, and equipment registers.
- Conduct SWMS/JSEA/Plant Risk Assessment development and review.
- Monitor site security and housekeeping.
- Lead site hazard identification and incident investigation
- Manage on-site subcontractor HSE issues (induction, risk assessments etc.)
This role is Monday to Friday with a ½ day every second Saturday.
A maintained vehicle is provided for site travel and limited personal travel.
