Experienced Field Technician required to join our Telecommunications Fixed Networks team in Rockhampton. This is a permanent position working across multiple programs including business customers and greenfield installations. Some regional travel which will require you to spend time away from home. (Happy to consider applicants from Brisbane who are willing to travel and work away from home for periods of time.). Must have full Australian working rights.

About the role
You will participate in NBN On Demand Project in technical scoping, fibre splicing and copper jointing activities and may also supervise the work of technical contractors. You must be self-motivated to achieve required outcomes. Other duties include:

• Ribbon and single fibre splicing
• Fault location and restoration using OTDR testing equipment and power meter instruments
• Internal building conduit and cable installation; and customer active equipment network integration
• Be engaged in pipe proving, hauling and pit and pipe installation activities
• Ensuring appropriate tools, safety equipment and materials are available to complete tasks
• Complete testing workbooks and project completions documentation

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Fibre Splicing and Copper Jointer accreditation
• Confidence in splicing and handling large optic fibre cables daily and familiar with rack and sub rack installations inside Telstra exchanges
• Understanding Telstra and NBN technical manuals
• Construction white card
• NBN Enable card
• Current Australian drivers’ licence
• Desirable - First aid, CPR, Lv 2 traffic management, Telstra technician and cable hauling experience
