Kincoppal-Rose Bay School of the Sacred Heart, founded in 1882, is a leading Catholic Independent Day and Boarding School located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The School is co-educational ELC-6, and girls only 7-12.
At present, we are inviting applications for a permanent full-time Finance Manager. As a key leader within the School's support and operational staff cohort and reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, the successful candidate, along with our other Finance Manager (who is commencing long service leave this year and is expected to return) will manage the entire Finance function. The role will be responsible for the full spectrum of strategic and Operational finance activities across the School. Scope and division of work will be dependent on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining robust financial control, including the development of policies and procedures
- Prepare yearly budgets with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that budgets are financially sustainable and align with the School’s objectives
- Produce forecast and analyse financial data, including recommending changes where required
- Prepare financial reports, P&L, balance sheets, cash flow and management reports
- Working with the Director of Corporate Services, develop long-term financial plans for the consideration of the Principal and School Board
- Manage the payroll function, including the successful implementation of a new HRIS/payroll system
- Manage the accounts receivable function, including the collection and reconciliation of all tuition, other fees, and amounts
- Oversee transactional flows and ensure general ledger accuracy
- Manage the accounts payable function, ensuring that processes are fit purpose
- Manage the month and year-end processes and reporting
- Preparation of the annual financial statements and manage the audit program
- Implement automation process and other process improvement initiatives
- Provide training and coaching to stakeholders relating to finance concepts and processes
- Ensure strict compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements as required
The ideal candidate:
- Strong technical experience, CA or CPA qualified
- Experience in a School setting or other ‘not for profit’ context will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability in working both at a strategic and operational level in all areas of Finance
- Demonstrated ability in managing complex financial operations and projects
- Demonstrated ability in leading a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
- Demonstrated ability in building relationships and influence at all levels of an organisation
- Prepared to support the ethos of a Sacred Heart education and be an active and visible leader in the dynamic life of our School.
The ideal candidate:
- Demonstrated experience in an administrative role. Background in music is desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated experience working with databases
- Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office suite
- Committed to the objectives, vision, and ethos of Sacred Heart Education
- Highly organized, and can prioritize with limited direction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Confident in making suggestions for process improvement
