About the Role
At PIA our Finance Unit plays an integral role in implementing effective financial and commercial practices to support the college needs, providing value and decision-making support across a range of complex finance and business activities.
We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer/Accountant to contribute to continuous improvement in the quality and effectiveness of financial support as we continue to enhance our Finance Business Partner service focus. You will work closely with Directors and management in your aligned portfolio areas to understand business drivers and requirements.
Responsibilities include complex financial analysis, forecasting, annual budgets, and medium-term financial plans.
Finance Component
- Preparing profit and loss statements, GST, and cost accounting reports.
- Examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure
- Developing budget and accounting policies.
- Analysing the revenue and expenditure of a business.
- Providing taxation and financial advice on business structures, plans and operations.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizig account information and trends.
- Recommends financial actions by analysing accounting options.
- Reconcile all financial accounts at the end of the month and report to the COO.

- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Review outstanding invoices monthly.
- Implementing and sustaining accounting systems, as well as offering guidance on the selection and utilization of computer-based accounting systems.
- Reporting to managers and directors about the financial health of a business.
- Production of all student invoices and following up on outstanding invoices
- Resolving accounting discrepancies.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.

- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Qualifications in a finance-related discipline with relevant accounting experience and a professional accounting designation
- Experience working in an accounting position that required the development of forecasts, budgets, and financial plans within a complex environment.
- Knowledge of and experience in applying financial and accrual accounting standards, structures, principles, and practices
- Experience in the integration and analysis of multiple finance activities.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills and liaising effectively with a wide variety of staff.
