They are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join their high performing team based in Brisbane. This is an opportunity for a first mover out of Audit or Business Services, or a commercially skilled Financial Accountant, to take the next step in their career and gain genuine and rapid career development and progression opportunities within a large ASX listed business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working as part of a larger finance team, the Financial Accountant developing best practice systems and processes to ensure that all reporting is accurate, timely and relevant. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the overall financial health of the business is supported through the effective delivery of financial and administration requirements of the organisation.
The successful candidate will have superior communication skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels. You will have excellent attention to detail with motivation and determination, the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. You will utilise your knowledge to deliver accurate and dependable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in preparation of management reporting
- Key bank reconciliations
- Intercompany account reconciliation
- End of month Journal preparations and review
- Review, establish and maintain appropriate processes, procedures and internal controls as required
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Participate in the ongoing management of the accounting software including new system implementation
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by Bookkeeper
Skills and Experience
- CPA or CA qualified accountant essential
- 1st mover out of public practice Audit or Business Services, or commercial experience
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts, including financial reporting.
- Technical competency, AASB and IFRS
- Systems abilities and a high level of computer literacy including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of accounting systems and processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to make sound business decisions based on the facts
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
- Attention to detail
