As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for providing accounting service within the clients Financial Services Unit. The function of this position is to ensure accounting services are delivered efficiently to support quality financial operations across the organisation. This is a 3 month temporary assignment with view to extend. The work hours are 9AM-5PM, Monday to Friday. The hourly rate is between $58.05 - $63.91 per hour plus super.

Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the preparation of statutory reports and analysis in respect of the Fixed Assets function.
- Ensure the integrity of the client's General Ledger by ensuring that all accounting transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner, suspense accounts are cleared out in a timely manner and sub-system reconciliations are undertaken in the required time frames.
- Maintain the data integrity of the client's fixed assets system including regular periodic and timely updates of depreciation, capital expenditure and assets disposals as reflected in the Works, Pathways and other systems.
- Analyse, process and reconcile Fixed Assets data for desktop and comprehensive revaluations.
- Support the implementation of financial system upgrades
- Act as a key member of the Financial Accounting team in finance related projects
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliations of the client's Balance Sheet accounts, identifying issues and implement agreed corrective actions.
- Manage the review of internal controls, procedures and processes and recommend improvements to ensure continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the Strategic Asset Management staff including asset engineers to ensure all asset management information requirements from the fixed assets system and met.
- Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports.
- Creating monthly provisions in accordance with policies and procedures
- Provide analytical support in the preparation of statutory and other reports.
- Undertake financial analysis and modelling using appropriate financial models for the client.
- Provide guidance and build knowledge within Leaders of the organisation.
- Build relationships within the business to ensure an understanding of the business needs in relation to Financial Accounting.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
* Business, Finance or Commerce Degree with a major in Accounting or similar.
* CA/CPA OR working towards qualification.
* 4+ years asset financial accounting experience in Technology One, Local Government is desirable.
* Ability to utilise business intelligence tools to deliver meaningful insights into business performance.
* Demonstrated financial accounting ability to apply accounting principles, policy and procedure to operational tasks.
* Developed ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique.
* Developed problem solving and decision-making ability, including confidence in working with others to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex issues and conflict.
