About the role:
The Financial Accountant is a key member of our Financial Control team which is responsible for the integrity of financial information in the general ledger for Unitywater, in order to provide accurate, timely and audit compliant Management, Statutory and Tax reporting.
This role supports the preparation of monthly financial reports such as end of month accruals, reconciliations and general ledger review and analysis and supports the preparation of statutory financial statements by putting together supporting workpapers and assisting the external audit.
This role is a 12month contract, covering maternity leave.
About you:
To contribute to Unitywater’s values of Reliability, Safety, Honesty& Integrity, Efficiency, One Team, Innovation, you will demonstrate the following skills and qualities for the role:
- Possession of an Accounting/Commerce qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or substantial experience and specialised skills.
- Membership or working towards an appropriate professional organisation (CPA/CA qualified)
- Demonstrated experience in preparing unqualified statutory annual financial statements for audit and ability to interpret relevant Government and financial legislation, regulations and accounting standards.
- Practical working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards pertaining to account preparation and financial disclosures and their application to the commercial situation of the business
- Understanding of financial stewardship matters relating to Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with immediate colleagues and others in cross-functional relationships in order to achieve organisational goals.
- High level proficiency in the use of a wide variety of Microsoft based and Enterprise Resource Planning finance systems. TechOne would be advantageous.
