Our client is a constantly evolving, well-oiled machine that is seeking to hire a new addition to the team as a Financial Accountant. The position will report into their impressive Chartered Accountant Finance Manager and will business partner with multiple areas inside/outside of finance including sales, marketing, etc. The business focuses their energy in providing Services but has other avenues of revenue that contribute to their growth and diversification.
The Role
This role is responsible to provide support to all aspects of the finance functions of the organisation and supports financial decision-making by collecting, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data.
The position of Financial Accountant reports into the Finance Manager and enjoys a great relationship with multiple stakeholders in the finance department including the Financial Controller and CFO, general managers and more. This will see mentorship and growth in the Accountant over the next 18 months as the role progresses.
The role has the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial accounts including profit & loss, balance sheet, and journal entries.
- Post journal entries for fortnightly payroll, ensuring timely mid-month and day 3 flash reporting.
- Analyse management accounts data, focusing on overhead, payroll costs, and funding.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Calculate and review monthly leave provisions, verifying payroll data.
- Collaborate with payroll for month-end reconciliation adjustments.
- Support annual statutory statement preparation and year-end audit processes.
- Prepare and analyze data for FBT returns and assist with income tax returns.
- Improve accounting processes and workpapers for efficiency, including monthly accruals.
- Implement and refine accounting procedures for better efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain documentation for audits.
- Provide support for external reporting, business financial analysis, and administrative tasks.
Experience Required:
Fully CA Qualified, you will have experience within a Chartered Accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) as well as experience in a commercial business. The ideal candidate is a second time mover from Big 4 Audit or Business Services.
You will be interested in adding value to the organisation by process improvement, solutions to issues that do not exist yet and be able to confidently steer the team through the month end process. In addition, you will have defined Excel skills (Pivot Tables, v-lookups) and be driven, energetic, enthusiastic, and proactive.
