Based in Newtown, we are currently looking for a highly motivated, detail oriented and professional Assistant Financial Accountant to cover for 4 month’s Paternity Leave
This role is perfect for a highly organised, motivated, and hard-working individual with excellent communication skills both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be able to work
autonomously within a small team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Month-end Journals, revenue recognition, accruals and prepayments
- Review of P&L transaction level activity for veracity and variance analysis
- Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Monthly Cash actuals reporting
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including monthly depreciation and asset management
- Be responsible for Admin Budget, Travel budget, and marketing budget reconciliation and variance analysis
Financial A/cs
- Coding and allocation of UK / US intercompany transactions
- Process freight Intercompany recharge to the UK & US related entities
- Manage Intercompany reconciliations and payments
- Responsible for processing and reconciling Rights income for local publishing
- Bank Reconciliation
- Payables processing and timing creditor payment
- Employee expense processing
- Monthly credit card statement processing
- Process payroll journals in Finance System, incl AL / LSL
- Manage BAS & IAS
Payroll
- Payroll-Processing and payment fortnightly in MYOB
- Remit Superannuation monthly
- Remit associated on-costs
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual returns including payroll tax, FBT & PAYG
- Remit monthly Commissions to Reps AU & NZ
- Collation of data for Workcover renewal
General
- Effective maintenance of soft and hard copy financial records
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Manage small receivables ledger to ensure payment received within terms
- Assist in the preparation of all other statutory accounts and annual returns as required ensuring reporting obligations to key external regulators, such as ASIC, ABS and the ATO are met on time and all records are compliant with relevant legislation
- In conjunction with Officer Manager, ensure new staff get necessary paperwork including tax and personal detail documents
- Recommendation of continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve enablement and maximise efficiency
- Assistance with management of Finance Facility (if required)
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar capacity and accounting background
- Computer skills:
- MYOB - Proficient
- Excel – Advanced
- Word
- High level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures
- Well organised
- Ability to use initiative, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills: written and verbal
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Tertiary qualification in business degree, accountancy or related discipline would be well regarded or be studying towards a CPA/CA qualification
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
