We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join the team, based at our Brisbane CBD head office and reporting to the Financial Controller.
As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial transactions and reporting processes of the company. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, analysing financial performance, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
You will be responsible for:
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and accordingly to required deadlines.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for financial discrepancies.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, and prepayments.
- Monitor and analyse balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and post journal entries as needed to reflect accurate financial transactions.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budgets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Assist in the implementation and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Other finance related functions as directed by financial controller.
We are seeking a motivated individual with:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in financial accounting or related roles.
- Demonstrated ability to implement rules and guidelines in accordance with established policies, procedures and reports within a large organisation. (Desirable)
- An ability to prioritise and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- General knowledge of accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, effectively liaise with and independently provide information and advice to internal and external clients, both orally and in writing (Essential)
