Financial Controller

We are seeking the expertise of an innovative and strategic thinking Financial Controller with previous Professional Services experience preferred. This is a senior role that requires leadership, financial acumen, and high-level analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the CEO, Regional Managing Directors, National team and the Board, the Financial Controller is a leadership role that requires innovation and strategic thinking, strong leadership, financial acumen and high-level analytical skills. The role is largely responsible for effective leadership and management of the financial strategic objectives of Escient along with financial planning, controls and reporting including implementing agreed strategies, policies and decisions to deliver ongoing growth and sustainable financial performance.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following key accountabilities: 

• Support the CEO to formulate and execute business strategies to deliver ongoing growth and sustainable financial performance. 
• Ensure compliance with all financial, legal and governance requirements.
• Establish and develop effective working relationships with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
• Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance team.
• Manage financial forecasting and budgets, client invoicing, AP, accounting systems and processes.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and projections.
• Manage cash forecasting and capital management including shares and loans.
• Manage tax strategic planning and compliance including income tax,
• R&D, FBT, GST and payroll tax.
• Manage annual financial statements and audit.
• Manage employee share scheme and share registry including
• Associated corporations and income tax compliance.
• Manage and contribute to relevant company policies and procedures.
• Develop & improve systems and processes.
• Role model Escient's values and behaviours.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in accounting or commerce and Chartered Accountant or CPA qualifications. 
• Sound knowledge of accounting practices and standards as they apply to a professional services business, gained through formal qualifications, professional development, and practical experience. 
• Demonstrated commercial acumen in the professional services sector. 
• High levels of proficiency in tools such as Excel spreadsheets and data analytics platforms (e.g. PowerBI), creation of dashboards and automated reporting
