We aim to provide the best possible high-performance program and facilities, in addition to unwavering support to our iconic national teams the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos.As a strong values-based organisation, our inclusive culture, employee benefits and commitment to learning and development, are the reason why we believe we are an employer of choice in the sporting industry.About the RoleReporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this senior role will be responsible for planning, organising, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of all financial activities for HA and its shared services entities. Working in partnership with key stakeholders, this role leads HA’s financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, internal control structures, compliance and project analysis to support business decisions.Key Accountabilities
  • Oversee the delivery of all financial activities for multiple entities (Hockey Australia, Masters, Indoor, Country, Hockey 1 League, Hockey South Australia, Hockey Queensland & Hockey Victoria)
  • Detailed review of Budget, 4 Year Cycle Budget and monthly rolling/detailed quarterly forecasts (including Balance Sheet & Cashflow) and preparation of key presentation documentation for the Executive team, Finance, Audit, Risk Management (FARM) Committee and Board papers
  • Review of Key Month End Balance Sheet reconciliations and management reporting packs prepared for HA and all shared service entities, ensuring accurate results and strong supporting commentary
  • Review and approval of Payroll, PAYG, PRT, BAS and superannuation submissions for HA and all shared service entities to ensure compliance with all requirements
  • Lead the annual external audit process and relationship, including testing the market at tender every 3 years and responding to management letter queries
  • Liaison with CEO, Finance Committees and Boards of shared service entities to align annual budgets and rolling forecasts to strategy, ascertain financial management of the accounts, acting on any feedback and ensuring service quality is high
  • Finance/forecast presentations to Finance & Risk Committees/Board of each shared service entity.
  • Preparation and implementation of annual Finance Operational plan
  • Leading and evolving a growing shared service function, ensuring we have appropriate and adequate resourcing, position descriptions and guidance in place for all team members so they have clarity of role and deliverables

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and a CA/CPA Qualification is mandatory
  • 10+ years’ experience in financial accounting, reporting, analysis and leading teams
  • Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Proven track record in managing financial operations for a multi-entity organisation
  • A chartered background and strong understanding of the sport and recreation sector would be viewed favourably
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a high performing finance team
  • An excellent knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Corporations Act rules and regulations (including remaining across changes and their impact on our entities)
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders
