About the role
The Financial Controller will play a hands on role in leading and managing the financial accounting, reporting, statutory and compliance requirements for the business, analysing results and preparing financial and management reports to support the company’s planning, control and management processes.
Responsibilities of the role
- Review financial results, prepare monthly consolidated management reports with detailed variance analysis
- Prepare & monitor annual, quarterly and monthly budgets
- Effective management of cash flow forecasts and reporting weekly
- Manage AP strategy, build excellent commercial relationships with suppliers
- Conduct in-depth business analysis identifying revenue growth and cost improvement initiatives, supporting business strategy
- Accuracy of records around GST, FBT, PAYG ensure these meet statutory requirements
- Prepare and lodge BAS
- Lead & motivate your team in the execution of their functional responsibilities
- Review, develop and improve systems and process seeking to increase effectiveness
Your experience
- Degree qualified B/Bus/Accounting member CAANZ or CPA
- Detailed knowledge of relevant Accounting Standards
- Leading a small team in continuous improvement process developing a highly effective finance function
- Experience developing, analysing and reporting of sales & profitability reports, identifying opportunities and trends
- Demonstrated experience enhancing, automating systems and process to drive efficiencies
- High levels of adaptability to address the various needs in a dynamic SME environment
- Self-motivated and work well with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential
- Experience in financial leadership/management in a SME national/independent retail environment is highly desirable
