As a result of continued growth, a new exciting role is available, and we are looking for a dynamic Financial or Commercial Accountant with 3+ years’ experience to immediately join our Corporate team within our professional services firm.
The successful candidate will have a great opportunity to develop your financial reporting and management accounting skills and work with an exciting and diverse portfolio of clients across a broad range of industries. As the financial accountant, you will report to the Senior Financial Accountant and work collaboratively to meeting reporting deadlines.
Your duties will include (but not limited to):
- Preparation of annual general-purpose financial reports with application of accounting standards required (using Caseware Financials)
- Involvement in the preparation of the year-end reporting packs for the annual statutory audit, including analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts, providing information for auditors, and creating standard, structured, automated working papers, preparation of consolidation accounts, reconciling entries and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting in preparing management letters for clients to highlight key issues and recommended actions
- Research technical and financial transactions, review and investigate financial and accounting records and resolve issues according to policies and/or best practices and recommend solutions
- Assist on ad-hoc projects and development of procedures in relation to new work streams
- Provide support and guidance to other team members.
Skills, attributes and competencies required:
- A Chartered Accountant (CPA/CA) or equivalent is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience with Australian accounting standards or IFRS is essential
- Strong understanding of financial reporting processes and statutory compliance requirements
- Strong reconciliation skills and ability to interpret data
- Sound business acumen with the ability to manage multiple priorities within agreed timelines
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving mind set and ability to handle ambiguity
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise your workload
- Understanding of ASIC reporting requirements desirable but not essential
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Microsoft Excel skills
- Genuine desire to be an enthusiastic and active lead to our growing team
