About the role
As a Fitter Machinist, you will be required to perform both Lathe and CNC turning operations to high tolerance. Working on manufacturing and re-qualifying Wheel parts, traction motor parts, components, and other associated equipment.
About you
- Ability to read, comprehend and apply technical drawings.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of problem solving skills and the ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Ability and willingness to further your knowledge and skills with additional training.
- Knowledge and understanding of diesel/electric locomotive engines desirable.
- Ability to work shifts and overtime as required.
Skills and experience
- Trade qualifications (Fitter & Turner, Machinist, Mechanical or suitable related disciplines).
- Previous experience working within a heavy maintenance/ asset management environment preferred but not essential.
- 1-3 years of Fitter/Machinist experience
- Hands on experience of manual machines like Saw, Lathe, Milling, Drilling and pneumatic/electrical hand tools essential.
- Welding experience preferred but not essential.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work to the instructions.
- Ability to use measuring instruments
- Heavy component fitting and machining experience preferred but not essential
- Experience of operating forklift and overhead crane preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to successful candidate
