About the business

A core division of Geocon, Iconic Hotels by Geocon specialises in hotel operations, management, training and strategy, as well as food and beverage outlet management and operations. Contributing 800+ hotel rooms to the accommodation market to date, over the next five years, Iconic Hotels will deliver an additional rooms. With a growing portfolio of trusted hotel brands and food and beverage offerings, Iconic Hotels by Geocon is changing the hospitality landscape in the ACT.

Focusing on making guests feel welcome and part of the family, Abode Hotels are smart in design, providing guests with all the hotel essentials they need, and a few extras on top.

Abode Hotels provide room types to accommodate for all needs, including interconnecting rooms for families or groups, pet friendly rooms, and studios designed for people who are mobility impaired. Select rooms include kitchenette facilities and a washer/dryer, and all rooms include an espresso machine, complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi, STAYCAST by Google Chromecast streaming, air conditioning, and bathroom amenities by Ideology.

We are currently recruiting for CASUAL/FULL-TIME/PART-TIME reception team member who can work at multiple locations.

Skills Required

  • Dynamic, vibrant, confident and professional personality
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hotel Front Office operation, with exposure to both front desk and reservations procedures are desired, but not necessary
  • Previous Leadership or similar experience is highly desired
  • Excellent customer relations, Accounting/Math Skills, problem solving, decision making and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Willingness to manage multiple tasks, conflicting deadlines and varying guest situations.
  • High standard of personal presentation
  • Previous experience using a Property Management System, preferably Opera is desirable
  • Strong local knowledge of Canberra and the surrounding regions is highly desirable but not essential
  • A current full Australian drivers’ licence is also highly desirable but not essential
  • The flexibility to work various shifts on a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • You must also meet the legal requirements to work in this country
