About the role:
Peabody are currently seeking a Gas Drainage Engineer to join our Centurion underground mine, Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au)
Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services the scope of your new role will be to ensure gas is drained to levels that enable safe mining whilst ensuring compliance with legislation, SHMS, and Peabody requirements.
Duties will include:
- Ensure in situ gas levels within underground mine are within statutory limits so that mining operations can take place in a safe and effective manner
- Contract manage the UIS drilling to deliver the drilling program on time and on budget
- Maintenance of the Gas Drainage system, including surface infrastructure
- Participation in permit to mine
- Analyse performance of the Gas Drainage system and seek continuous improvement

This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related mining discipline)
- MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
- Relevant underground competencies and abilities
- Three years' experience in an underground coal operation
- Working knowledge of Coal Mine Gas Drainage and legislative requirements.
- Experience working in Gas Drainage
- Commitment to high performance standards.
In addition to the above, you will have a genuine commitment to safety and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk and hazard identification. You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible attitude and sound work ethic.
