Emeco Group (ASX: EHL) was founded in 1972 and is a world leader in maximising the performance of heavy earthmoving equipment. It has operations in all key mining regions of Australia and its customers include mining companies and contractors across coal, gold, copper, bauxite and iron ore.

Due to rapid growth and expansion within our technology department we are now on the hunt for a General ManagerOperational Technology. We are looking for someone who will spear head the companies OT strategy on a national scale. You will be future focused with efficiency, performance and innovation being key objectives while continuing the business objectives and EOS roll out.

The Role:

  • Own and manage our Operational Technology infrastructure (from fleet to cloud to application), ensuring their maintenance, management, upgrades, and lifecycle management are in line with industry standard.
  • Set, Monitor and Achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the team in line with good industry standards.
  • The role requires a hands-on approach with the team, including travel to various corporate and customer project locations to inspect/oversee OT delivery.
  • Manage the OT & EOS budget and contributing to future financial year budget planning.
  • Establishing policies, standards, practices to ensure effective and consistent delivery of our technology to varying assets and sites.
  • Ensure our OT assets are secure, working with the IT group to prevent, monitor, and protect company data and systems.
  • Conducting research and remaining current with the latest technologies and solutions to inform Emeco’s OT strategy and practices.
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with key vendors (e.g. CAT, iVolve) to ensure we receive the best support and competitive pricing.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience working with Operational Technology, as well as Connected and Cloud Based Solutions and Offerings, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
  • Experience defining and leading product development (insource or outsource), as well as roadmap development in consultation with business and customer VOC.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and development, and project management.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current IoT technologies, network and operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • You will be able to offer examples how you have translated OT/Connected Offering strategy/idea’s into a costed technology delivery roadmap and have an associated track record in operationalising the roadmap. In delivering the roadmap, the GM will have to strike a careful balance how they personally drive delivery vs. work through others as needed. There will be a strong degree of hands-on leadership required to be successful in the Emeco culture
  • You will have managed multiple teams concurrently, including both in-house and external. You will have the ability to design & implement a cost-effective operating model to deliver the roadmap with agility and responsiveness, including how to attract/retain/develop diverse digital-/technology talent in Perth and Brisbane.
  • Preferred candidates will offer examples how they have helped the business to adopt innovative new ways to create value for customers or grow revenue, not necessarily using new technology tools but also potentially using innovative ways of working and collaborating across the company or with partners/third parties.
  • Experience in mining or related industries technologies will be beneficial.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing a high-performing team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
