General manager operations

Pursuited.com, the recruitment platform, is currently looking off-platform for a brilliant, growing and market-leading business based in Byron Bay in northern NSW. Founded in 2013, our client is dedicated to their craft of chocolate production with a high-vibe health consciousness and focus on using a unique blends of superfoods, tonic herbs and healing spices.

The Role

This General Manager / Operations Manager role is a newly created position for the business as part of their growth journey wherein the ideal candidate will have experience leading a team, ideally within a food business, and managing the daily operation of the business. They will be responsible for maintaining the standard of work from employees as well as onboarding and hiring new team members.

The Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to a team of people
• Manage operations and finances of business
• Improve efficiencies across the business, working with those in operations, production, sales and finance by implementing good quality systems, and training the team
• Ensure that quality of work or service is maintained
• Oversee legalities/HACCP in a food business, keeping food safety and insurances active (with help of an external solicitor/consultant where necessary)
• With finance/accounting in terms of understanding performance, costings and budgeting.
• Act as a solid and stable person within the company, as well as a positive leadership style that inspires the team to take initiative
• Set targets for all managers to reach
• Communicate with business owners and senior leadership team (SLT) and provide thoughtful insights to business growth, opportunities and product development.

Your Qualifications

• Prior experience leading a team of 15+ people, ideally within a food business, and managing the daily operation of the business
• Ideally experience in exporting to other countries with cold logistics and e-commerce knowledge/minded
• Demonstrated ability to lead
• Strong filing and record keeping skills
• Ability to have difficult conversations
• A real team player, and makes beneficial decisions for the company and the team
• Ability to hold people accountable for their mistakes, but also to offer praise
• It would be great if they have experience with the following software: DEAR, Shopify, other software regularly used by the business include: Loom, Gsuite, Stripe, Klaviyo, Yopto.
