As General Manager, Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing a comprehensive logistics operation across the entire program, ensuring efficient material movement within the program boundary to support asset construction. You will collaborate closely with the program logistics team, asset Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams, as well as Project Management Consultancy (PMC) teams to ensure timely and delivery of materials in alignment with asset construction schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Direct a comprehensive logistics operation across the entire program, ensuring efficient material movement within the program boundary to support asset construction.
- Develop and execute a robust logistics strategy that encompasses the movement of materials within the program boundary to each asset.
- Align logistics operations with the overarching program objectives and asset construction schedules.
- Engage proactively with the Solutions team, EPC teams, and PMC teams to coordinate material delivery plans and optimize logistics processes.
- Partner with asset teams to understand asset construction schedules and ensure timely material delivery to support construction milestones.
- Develop comprehensive plans for the ramp-up of logistics operations to accommodate changing asset construction requirements.
- Strategically plan for resource allocation, equipment procurement, and workforce needs to efficiently manage material movement.
- Establish and lead a proficient and collaborative program-wide logistics team.
- Define roles and responsibilities, provide leadership and mentorship, and ensure the team's capabilities are aligned with operational demands.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and acquire the necessary logistics assets, including vehicles, equipment, and technology solutions, to facilitate efficient material transportation.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, transportation partners, and service providers to secure favorable terms and cost-effective logistics solutions.
- Monitor and manage the department budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Implement strategies to optimize material flow within the program boundary, reducing bottlenecks and minimizing delays.
- Ensure materials are delivered to assets in the right quantity, quality, and at the right time.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for department, regularly assessing performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations.
Bulk Storage Management:
- Oversee all aspects of bulk storage operations, ensuring seamless handling from reception to dispatch.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient bulk storage, retrieval, and distribution.
- Implement robust inventory management practices to monitor and control stock levels.
- Utilize technology solutions for real-time tracking and visibility into bulk storage inventory.
- Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, optimizing storage space and ensuring timely movement of bulk materials.
- Collaborate with transportation teams for the smooth integration of bulk materials into the supply chain.
- Manage and optimize the use of handling equipment for bulk materials.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
Yards / Terminals / Ports experience
- Oversee and optimize road transportation activities within yards, terminals, and ports.
- Develop and implement specialized strategies for efficient cargo handling and transportation.
- Coordinate and manage the movement of goods within yards and terminals.
- Ensure seamless transfer of cargo between different modes of transportation.
- Collaborate with port authorities and stakeholders to facilitate smooth port operations.
- Manage customs clearance and documentation processes for import and export activities.
- Oversee the maintenance and management of the road fleet operating within these environments.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal fleet performance.
Equipment Fleet Oversight:
- Manage the entire spectrum of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and Top Lifters, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
- Implement strategies to optimize the use of different types of equipment based on operational needs.
- Coordinate equipment deployment to maximize efficiency in various operational scenarios.
- Ensure that operators are appropriately trained and certified for the safe and efficient operation of different equipment types.
- Implement ongoing training programs to keep operators updated on the latest equipment handling techniques.
Educational Qualifications & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in logistics and warehouse management for at least 15 years, with a track record of successful leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with industry-related software and technologies.
