As the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for building on the rich legacy of this well-established business through the next phase of growth and manufacturing excellence. With P&L responsibility, the Head of Manufacturing will drive the ongoing transformation of our manufacturing operations and lead the team to achieve strategic objectives through commercial acumen and focus on quality. This will include providing strong coaching and mentoring to drive high performance, a positive working culture, and open communication. You will also be responsible for fostering a strong and visible safety culture that aligns with the organisation’s broader initiatives and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence within the facilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the company's overall objectives to drive growth and profitability across the facilities
- Identify market trends, opportunities and challenges to formulate effective business strategies and initiatives
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to your direct reports and their respective teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Support the recruitment, training, mentoring and development of talent within the facilities to build a skilled and motivated workforce capable of achieving business objectives
- Promote a culture of employee engagement, empowerment and accountability to drive individual and team success
Operational Management:
- Championing a safety-focused culture and environment and ensuring that operations are complaint with all relevant WHS Legislation and company policies
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators, financial metrics, and operational processes to identify areas for improvement and optimisation
- Drive facilities to implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational performance and ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
Continuous Improvement
- Develop a value engineering & process improvement culture through LEAN methodologies & Kaizen events to optimise production across our facilities
- Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency
- Oversee and coordinate special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Managing Director
Financial Performance:
- Develop and support Facility Managers to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the facilities, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives and financial targets
- Monitor financial performance against budget and KPIs, implement cost-control measures, and optimise revenue-generating opportunities to achieve profitability goals
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering (essential)
- 10+ years' experience in a senior leadership role within the manufacturing industry
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities
- Highly developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in Lean methodologies and proven experience in their implementation
- Results focused
- Confidence to challenge established ways of working with new processes and procedures, can drive an agenda
