This position sits within Data Services that provides data services, statistical services and spatial (GIS) services to both internal and eternal clients. This position is part of the Data Management team that provides high quality data quality, data engineering, data analysis and advice, regarding data analytics matters affecting Queensland Police Service.

-Data Quality activities
-Data Modelling
-Representing QPS in State and National Forums
This position is part of the GIS team that provides analysis and information and spatial support products for planning and conduct phases of a wide range of operational activities.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Provide spatial analysis and cartographic services relevant to planning and operational policing information, utilising desktop GIS technology, software extensions and a range of spatial and spatial data.
• Conduct information analysis and provide high quality maps, digital data and other information to users and clients.
• Negotiate with relevant stakeholders including the private sector, in the acquisition, maintenance and dissemination of principally spatial data.
• Seek to work with new and existing clients to deliver new and innovative cartographic and spatial analysis information and presentation capabilities.
• Maintain communication channels and relationships with a variety of stakeholders including team members, clients, vendors and suppliers for information and applications used within the Service.
• Identify potential improvements to the Service's existing GIS system through monitoring GIS related developments within government and industry.
• Represent the Service on internal and external governance bodies and committees.
Role Requirements:
Mandatory - Sound ESRI ArcGIS software skills
Technical/Operational/Educational experience -
Highly Desirable
- Advanced user skills in ESRI ArcGIS Software including strong cartographic skills
- Apply spatial analysis and positional awareness to operational activities
- Apply Quality Control and information standards to visualisation and data products
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Broad knowledge of GIS technologies
- Experience in the use of python (ArcPy), ModelBuilder, and/or SQL
