 Fixed Term (Three Years) | Full-time | 76 Hrs Per Fortnight

12.5% Superannuation | Rostered Day Off (9 Day Fortnight) | Premium Recquatic Membership

This position is classified as a PACS Band 6 ($80,197 – 85,986 p.a) under the City of Kwinana’s structured remuneration system.

What’s On Offer
A rare and rewarding opportunity exists for a highly capable individual to join our busy Governance and Legal department at the City of Kwinana. This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager Governance and Legal and working alongside a superstar team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality legal and governance support across a range of areas relating to the City’s core business, with particular focus in supporting the areas of governance, risk, procurement and property related matters.

What You’ll Need
To make an impact as our new Governance and Legal Support Officer you will have;

  • Demonstrated experience in local government governance, risk and compliance related functions.
  • Familiarity with interpreting legislation with a good understanding of the legislative framework governing Local Governments in Western Australia.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake research, problem solve complex issues, and develop clear and concise briefing notes and discussion papers with supporting recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents such as leases and contracts.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to autonomously manage competing demands and meet strict timeframes in a busy environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite of products and web-based software.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing policies and local laws (desirable).
  • A qualification in law or working towards (desirable).
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
