The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. In this role working permanent full time, you will be responsible for supporting our Controls Engineering team in designing and commissioning new systems. You will assist in the deployment of electrical control systems by designing, documentation, testing and commissioning of materials handling automation hardware and PLC software. The position also provides substantial opportunities to travel across a number of our customer locations within Australia and overseas.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare and review functional, system and other specifications
- Conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work
- Preparation of electrical schematic drawings, PLC programs and configuration of operator interfaces
- Preparation of manufacturing and installation specifications
- Completion of administration processes in timely manner
- Assisting in planning and installations of systems
- Managing the procurement of parts, the manufacture of cabinets and the electrical installation
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of PLC systems
- Preparation of test plans including operator & technical manuals
- On-site commissioning of systems on location in Australia, New Zealand & Asia
- Training of client personnel and providing customer support
- Handing over projects to our service team for ongoing support of site
What we are looking for:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or related disciplines with excellent academic records
- Strong software programming aptitude
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent time management and prioritising skills
- Willingness to travel during the installation and commissioning phase of a project
- Previous engineering internship experience highly regarded
- Commitment to project delivery and seeing tasks through to completion
- Dependable mature minded individual that is a good proactive team player
