About the role:
Step into a pivotal role where your mission is clear – to effectively drive McPherson’s objectives throughout Australia, ensuring the achievement of targets and budgets. As the Head of Field Sales, you play a dynamic role not only as a leader but also as a vital member of our sales team, contributing to a work environment that is safe, accountable, honest and enjoyable.
Your responsibilities extend to overseeing State Managers, maintaining crucial account relationships and captialising on every sales opportunity. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Accounts to lead, coach, and develop our team, with a focus on flawless in-store execution. Take charge of developing and implementing strategic marketing strategic at both state and account levels, ensuring customer profitiablity and fostering enduring partnerships. This role isn’t just about achieving numerical milestones; it’s about creating a workplace culture that thrives on impactful leadership, enjoyment and, most importantly, sustainable growth.
Your responsibilities will include;
Field Strategy and Execution: You will shape McPherson’s reputation for innovation and brand excellence. Drive direct sales channel growth, focusing on both existing and new clients. Serve as the key customer interface, developing and implementing account strategies aligned with the overall channel plan. Monitor performance, budgets, and competitor activities. Lead the mobile applications team, manage SalesForce dashboards, and deliver business reviews quarterly with your team and half-yearly with Sales Directors.
In the Field: Exceed sales targets and actively engage in the incentive program. Optimise customer coverage in your territory cost-effectively, adhering to division standards. Ensure high-quality maintenance of McPherson’s in-store stands, actively seeking additional brand space. Cultivate and expand customer relationships in the territories, safeguarding McPherson’s market-leading positions and serving as a trusted advisor. Drive in-store activities, including; POS, merchandising, training, expos, and customer events for key accounts within specified timeframes.
Account Management: You will oversee state account management where you will sensure spend within budget, managing trading terms and providing guidance and coaching to senior Territory Managers.
Administrative Duties: Handle administrative tasks effectively, providing timely written reports and field intelligence as requested by the Sales Director. Adhere to P&C/WHS Guidelines, managing Territory Call Cycsles to nurture state-based relationships. Utilise existing business information for enhancing responsibilities. Maintain and update the in-field coaching calendar, promptly completing coaching feedback forms. Contribute to the preparation, planning and execution of quarterly cycle meetings. Regional and interstate travel may be required, including overnight stays.
About you:
As the ideal candidate, you should have:
5+ years of experience in FMCG or Pharmacy within a large and diverse organisation.
Extensive experience managing a large field team in Pharmacy.
Strong Leadership skills and an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent financial acumen.
The ability to support and nurture a strong team culture.
Proven experience dealing with Senior Stakeholders.
