We are currently seeking to appoint a Head of IT Business Management to join our Information Technology (IT) team in a senior leadership role, based out of John Holland's state-of-the-art Flinders Gate office.

Reporting to the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), you will oversee the strategic direction, governance, and performance of the IT function across the organisation. You will work closely with the CDIO to develop key metrics and optimisation opportunities.

This role will drive the creation of the annual IT business plan and budget build as well as ongoing budget management throughout the year. You will be responsible for planning, governance and reporting of IT initiatives and ensuring alignment and progression against the IT business plan.

About the Role

  • Lead and manage the IT Business Management team, which includes IT strategy, planning, governance, finance, commercial and portfolio management functions.
  • Develop and implement the IT strategic plan, roadmap, and budget in collaboration with the CDIO and other senior leaders. Ongoing custodianship of the plan and associated progress tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to craft and communicate a broad, long-term strategic direction with strong rationale.
  • Emotional intelligence, influence, and diplomacy to develop relationships and lead teams through difficult decisions and conversations around prioritisation and investment
  • Develop exec-level relationships and model good relationship management / collaboration for your team

  • Establish and maintain effective IT governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes to ensure alignment, accountability, and transparency of IT activities and investments
  • Manage the IT Investment Committee process which is comprised of JH Executives to govern the funding, approval, and prioritisation of key initiatives
  • Visualise and communicate IT's work in progress, prioritisation and capacity limits
  • Develop and implement an overall IT scorecard which monitors the performance of IT and is clearly aligned to business outcomes
  • Identify optimisation opportunities to enhance the IT function and implement agreed initiatives
  • Create a communication plan that drives a significant uplift in how IT communicates the business value that it delivers
  • Collaborate with the IT SLT to create actions plans for engagement survey results that enhance culture and employee value proposition
  • Taking a future focused view of IT direction and skills required to support capabilities
  • Management of IT town hall planning and facilitation
  • Responsible for the annual IT budget build and ongoing financial management of the plan, including levies and recoveries
  • Forecast a longer-term view of IT costs and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Responsible for commercial management of all IT agreement and contracts with vendors and suppliers.

About You

This position will require you to have significant experience leading teams in a senior management role within an IT environment. A relevant Degree/Post Graduate qualification is highly regarded.

You will have demonstrated experience in:

  • Developing IT performance scorecards and benchmarking
  • Developing IT strategy and execution plans
  • Executing this role in other medium / large organisations
  • Influencing to drive organisational change
  • Building high performing teams

You will enjoy working collaboratively and be able to foster effective strategic relationships with people at all levels both internally and externally.
