About the Job
To enable the Finance and Investment Operations Division to develop, implement, maintain and monitor the Rest Risk Management Framework in relation to the operations of the Division. You will identify and monitor business risks and work with the business teams to ensure that those risks are appropriately mitigated. You will also monitor the Division’s compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations and industry standards, demonstrating and embodying a sound risk culture.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Provide strategic process and thought leadership on proactive risk management strategies, plans and actions in the context of the current, emerging and future environment.
- Lead the oversight and optimisation of Operational compliance.
- Develop and maintain mechanisms to identify, monitor and report on material risks of the Finance and Investment Operations function including key risk indicators, to inform reporting and escalation to Management, and the Audit and Finance Committee, where required.
- Develop, prepare and co-ordinate (as appropriate) regular risk and compliance reporting to support delivery of business outcomes and lead risk reporting to the Audit and Finance Committee.
- Promote risk culture across the Finance and Investment Operations Division and promote its continuous improvement.
- Ensure a sound control environment is maintained as part of the day-to-day business activities.
- Ensure a comprehensive and strategic approach to the Division’s Operational Risk management framework to enable and empower meeting the team’s business objectives.
- Work with the Finance and Investment Operations business teams, to support the identification of risks and the design and implementation of mitigating controls.
- Perform control self-assessment, identifying any issues/controls gaps and address root cause by improving controls.
- Work with the Finance and Investment Operations business teams, to undertake activities to ensure policies and procedures are appropriately embedded into business operations.
- Ensure regulatory change initiatives within the Finance and Investment Operations Division are appropriately implemented, monitored and reported.
- Proactively manage and support Finance and Investment Operations divisional teams to ensure required remedial actions arising from incidents and breaches, audit reports, and prudential review findings are completed and reported to the Second Line Risk team and Audit and Finance Committee.
- Complete end to end processing of all raised incidents, including root cause analysis, systems and reporting, and post review.
- Support the governance of projects and change initiatives, and management of risks arising from these activities within the Finance and Investment Operations division. This includes identification and management of risks associated with achieving the planned outcomes for the project (delivery risk) and impacts the project may have on organisational risks (delivered risk).
- Lead the identification, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of legislative and regulatory obligations applicable to the Finance and Investment Operations team and ensure business process and controls are implemented to support compliance.
- Work with the Finance and Investment Operations teams, to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to govern and monitor material outsourced service providers.
- In collaboration with business teams, improve the operational resilience of Finance and Investment Operations business unit processes, and their ability to achieve business objectives, by working with business teams to reduce risk and optimise process design.
- Meaningfully contribute as part of the leadership team of the function.
- Lead the First Line of Defense Risk/Incidents Forum.
- Lead the Finance and Investment Operations business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging risks and continuously improve the Operational Risk management framework.
About You:
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, law, economics, business or equivalent
- (desirable) Membership of a professional body such as the Risk Management Institute of Australia or the GRC Institute
- Demonstrated experience in risk and compliance management in the financial services industry (ideally superannuation and/or investment management)
- Thorough understanding of, and experience of developing and implementing and reporting on, risk and compliance management tools, techniques and best practice methodologies
- (desirable) Experience with investment and superannuation operations
- Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to risk management
- Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines
- Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with sound oral and written communications skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to work collaboratively across business functions
- Demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring high attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
