About the Role
As the Head of People – Operations, you will closely collaborate with senior leaders in operations to achieve a wide range of People-focused business goals. This position reports into the People Director - Operations. Supported by People COEs, As a key leader of the People Team, you’ll provide credible, timely, and consistent support to operational BUs, with an emphasis on values-driven change management and workforce engagement.
What you’ll do:
- Support leaders with talent and performance management.
- Facilitate succession planning.
- Design and deliver people strategies.
- Execute people cycle activities within aligned operational BUs.
- Plan and implement effective stakeholder engagement actions to drive understanding among key influential stakeholders and business leaders, influencing positive acceptance of change across the business unit.
- Ensure effective development of human capital within the BU to drive strategic business objectives and market leadership.
- Matrix environment, leading partnership and collaboration with the business
- Offer insights and trends on people and business matters, assisting business leaders in prioritising and enhancing organisational capabilities, behaviours, structures, and processes.
- Operationalise and align the BU’s People strategy with overall Group People Strategy in close collaboration with the BU SLT.
Offer credible, contemporary, and practical guidance on People matters and initiatives.
- Foster a culture of excellence by developing strategies that enhance employee engagement, performance, and productivity.
- Promote TGE values and behavioural standards within the BU to create an inclusive performance culture.
- Identify and source solutions to enhance capability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Drive effective performance management linked to goals, values, and behaviours.
- Coach people leaders to improve engagement, recognition, feedback, and development conversations.
- Ensure impactful change and improvement within the BU.
What you’ll bring
- A tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources or a related discipline
- 7+ years of Generalist operational HR experience, including day-to-day people function leadership focussed on redesign and continuous improvement.
- Significant experience of organisational transformational change in a large complex business.
- Curiosity and creativity to challenge the status quo.
- Experience of a unionised environment.
- Demonstrated skills in Employee Relations, Organisation Development and Strategic HR, as well as sound knowledge of Australian HR policies and employment law preferred.
- Demonstrated capability to work with large data volumes from diverse sources.
- Strong communication skills
- Experience working effectively in a team environment and managing competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
