About the role
As the Head of Technical Operations, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development, Asset and Maintenance group (NDAM) reporting to the Director of Infrastructure.
You will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic initiatives, leveraging technology advancements, and driving operational efficiencies to enhance the overall effectiveness of our rail operations.
Key Accountabilities include:
- You will provide leadership and guidance to a team of Technical professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation in Technical Operations.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives for maintenance engineering across all disciplines to optimise the performance, reliability, and availability of rail assets.
- Lead and oversee fault centre management activities, ensuring efficient and timely resolution of Technical faults to minimise service disruptions and maintain high levels of operational performance including incident management.
- Manage technical systems and infrastructure, including signalling, communications, rolling stock, and track maintenance, to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Championing the use of a new organisational or group-level processes such as change management methodology.
About you
This position will suit an innovative and experienced Leader with extensive expertise in Technical Operations within the rail Industry. In this exciting new role, you will have the opportunity to use your previous asset management experience to understand current state and drive change to facilitate reliability of V/Line's assets for efficiencies and longevity within approved budgets.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role managing a team of Technical professionals of different statures.
- A track record of successfully implementing and executing maintenance strategies and practices to optimise the performance and reliability of rail assets.
- Extensive experience in maintenance engineering, fault centre management, technical systems management, or a related field in the Rail industry.
- Experience with the use of new organisational or group-level processes such as change management methodology.
- A Tertiary degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline or a related technical discipline/ Postgraduate or additional certification in a relevant discipline would be highly desirable
