Kogarah High School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school in the Sydney South Metropolitan area. We pride ourselves on our diverse and culturally rich community, and our dynamic school culture, which is focused on developing young people who are engaged learners and responsible citizens. The Kogarah High School student population of 760 that comes from over 20 different culturally and linguistically diverse communities. While 84.4% of students are from Language Backgrounds other than English, 20% are receiving support from specialist English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers. The school also hosts an Intensive English Centre, a Hearing Support unit, one class for students with mild intellectual disabilities and three classes for students with Autism. Our experienced teachers and School Learning Support Officers monitor progress regularly and apply evidence informed learning interventions to ensure every child achieves growth each year.
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Highly developed leadership and communication skills to positively collaborate as part of the executive and wellbeing teams, enhancing the engagement and wellbeing of all students.
2. Proven ability to develop, implement and monitor high quality, evidence-based school-wide wellbeing initiatives, policies and practices that improve wellbeing outcomes for students. Demonstrate ability to lead, manage, and analyse data to implement whole-school improvement processes that support the school’s strategic directions.
3. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies to foster a culture that values diversity, accessibility, and inclusion to meet the wellbeing needs of all students.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
