McConnell Dowell Constructors are seeking a Health and Safety Trainee to join our team in Diggers Rest, working on the Diggers Rest level crossing removal project.
McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government’s Level Crossing Removal Program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), V/Line, Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

As a Health and Safety Trainee, we’ll help you develop your capability in:
- Assisting in management of workplace safety issues
- Proficiency in Company and Industry systems and software
- Understanding site specific safety requirements
- Helping develop project specific Safety Management plans
- Research and preparing reports relating to Health and Safety issues, performance and improvement strategies
- Understanding risk management, including Safety in Design
- Knowledge of high risk activities, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Understanding effective Traffic Management
- Inspections, audits and investigations
- Industrial relations (IR)
- Delivering safety training
- Injury management
