  • Ongoing full time role (with ADO)
  • Carlton location with hybrid working. There will be times that this role will work from Parkville precinct.
  • $102-116k (dependent upon experience) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

Our goal is to be the best place to work, learn and contribute, and to provide exceptional experiences for our patients and consumers.About Health Information ServicesHealth Information Services (HIS) at the Women's covers a range of services including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support, scanning, medical record retrieval for patient care and research, clinical coding, statutory reporting and data integrity, Privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, medical enquiries/release of information (ROI) requests and medical transcription (outpatient service).HIS also looks after the Archives Department, which is responsible for overseeing both the historical and cultural memory, as well as advising the corporate records retention & destruction process for the hospital, according to relevant statutes, legislation and retention authorities.HIS sits within the Informatics Department which has 4 key portfolios:
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics
  • Health Information Services
  • Archives
The Parkville EMR is a world-class system shared by The Women’s, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and The Royal Children’s Hospital to support high-quality, seamless healthcare in Parkville and improve health outcomes for Victorians. The Women’s EMR team is an enthusiastic and growing team responsible for the day-to-day management, operation, and improvement of the EMR. The team liaises with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders of the EMR and works collaboratively with the four Health Services and the Parkville EMR team to deliver outcomes to benefit patients and staff. The EMR is used by more than 18,000 clinicians and staff across the four health services and is delivered in partnership with Epic, a global leader in health information technology.The Business Intelligence and Analytics Unit manages the reporting of the hospital’s key performance indicators against performance targets and assists the business with regular and ad hoc activity reporting, coordinates activity benchmarking, provides a data assurance role for activity submissions, and develops and reports clinical costing for The Women’s.This position reports directly to the Manager Health Information Services and indirectly to the Manager Business Intelligence & Analytics.About the roleThis position is responsible for ensuring that the data across the Women’s is reported accurately and in accordance with the defined business rules through:
  • Accurate reporting of admitted and non-admitted activity to the Department of Health (DH)
  • Data integrity and quality activities including data remediation, data audits and corrections
  • Provision of training and education including development of user training material and other documentation
  • Testing with any upgrade and/or modifications
Leadership
  • Provide data integrity and statutory reporting leadership within HIS and across the organisation
  • Develop the team – help your team members set performance goals, and then track results and evaluate performance effectiveness
  • Provide coaching – engage with staff in developing and committing to the plan that targets specific behaviours, skills or knowledge needed to ensure performance improvement
About youYou’ll bring with you:
  • Knowledge of and commitment to quality management principles
  • Minimum of two years’ experience within a health information or similar service
  • Excellent staff management and leadership skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of HIS service commitments and customer requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work accurately and within time constraints
  • Knowledge of activity-based funding systems and all applicable policy and funding guidelines
  • High level problem solving and analytical skills and initiative
  • Proven ability to manage change
  • Commitment to evolution of information and record management systems
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft software including word, outlook and excel
