If you love all things horticulture but want to work in the inner suburbs of Brisbane, then City Parklands may be the perfect place for you! We are seeking a talented and passionate Horticulturist to join our South Bank Operations Team in a permanent, full-time capacity.
As a Horticulturalist at City Parklands Services, you will provide high quality horticultural services, including but not limited to, the establishment and maintenance of landscaping, plantscaping and gardens as well as site cleaning and implementation of pest management and fertilising programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake both horticultural and general maintenance activities in addition to landscape development work;
- Use appropriate tools, machinery and techniques to create and maintain trees, garden beds, and turfed grass areas in line with design plans, established work practices and horticultural standards;
- Carry out the appropriate pest management, nutrition and plant management programs;
- Monitor the performance of irrigation system and assist with the maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications; and
- Ensure all equipment and machinery is maintained and operated to manufacturers’ specifications.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Valid manual drivers license (class C);
- Computer literate;
- Certificate in Horticulture Cert 3 or equivalent competencies gained through structured training or experience;
- Chemical handling certification, or equivalent, for the safe storage and use of horticultural pest control chemicals; and
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in maintaining parks and gardens and horticultural work pertaining to trees, shrubs and lawn/turf.
