Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy)
The position's primary location is at the Gas Field Services headquarters located at Alligator Creek QLD, 4740. Travel to sites where our business hold contracts may be required, on a regular basis.
The HSE Advisor is responsible for all the Safety systems to support our business as we seek to minimise the environmental impact of the business and ensure compliance with relevant requirements specific to clients, contracts and relevant legislation.
Reporting to the General Manager, the HSE Advisor will:
- Prevent occupational illness and injury through the implementation of hazard identification and risk management principles and by engaging all relevant parties, including our staff, visitors, contractors, volunteers and members of the public affected by our activities.
- Undertake ongoing auditing, monitoring reporting and evaluation of business HS&E performance.
- Develop and implement HS&E systems, procedures and compliance strategies.
- Raise HS&E awareness within the business.
- Liaise with key personnel/board regarding HS&E performance and initiatives.
- Facilitate continual improvement and cultural beliefs around safety.
- Conduct Rig audits on the Drilling Rigs / inspections with managers, ensure health and safety standards are observed, to discover unsafe or unsatisfactory conditions and practices before injury occurs.
- Advise executive management and supervisory staff in all HS&E matters and monitor the organisations overall safety performance in order to report this to management.
- Have up to date Safety data - LTI's, stats and hours worked.
- Keep the Incident Reporting up to date and follow up any required information & close out signatures.
- Compile HS&E reports.
- Manage the weekly Toolbox meeting rosters on a Tuesday morning.
- Keep the Rig Registers up to date and organise booking of NDT'S, Machinery Inspections & Inspection when required.
- Communicate with the Drill Rig Supervisors / Maintenance Manager upcoming Machinery inspections.
- Commission specialist assistance where required.
- Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and update HS&E Management System, rules and procedures.
- Gas Field Services to keep you up-to-date with training on the OHSE Management System and Policies.
- Assist in the implementation and paper trail of the Quality Assurance systems controls.
- Implement and maintain safety systems for tools for people with safety responsibilities to adhere to their roles.
- Advise Management and the HR Department of any training certificates / inductions that may be required for all personnel to fulfil job requirements.
The successful candidate will have:
- A high level of autonomy within the parameters of the business to manage the occupational health and safety of the business.
- A strong understanding of relevant legislation to provide information and advice to enable the business to comply with duties imposed under The Model WHS Act 2011 and Regulations.
- A Certificate IV or above in Work Health and Safety
- Sound knowledge of site training requirements and nationally recognised training requirements
- A basic knowledge of and/or willingness to develop skills in, working with records and information management in an electronic environment
- Ability to lead incident investigations, JSEA's, Toolbox Talks, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety Act 2011
- Knowledge and understanding of Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999
