The Role – HSE&T Lead/Manager
We are seeking an experienced HSE&T manager to lead a team of Health and Safety professionals for the Large Capital Projects Portfolio. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join Alcoa and shape the future of safety. You will be part of the broader safety function in the broader Alcoa business
About You:
To be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proficiency in and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Ability to draft, implement, monitor, and audit Safety Management plans.
- Team Leading capabilities.
- High level of Incident investigation protocols.
- Conflict or Problem resolution skills relating the EHS&T.
- Safety Compliance Lead or Management.
- Detailed understanding of Safety and Environmental Standards and Legislative requirements.
- Risk Identification and Control.
- Business and Customer Focus.
Experience/Qualifications:
Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Preferred)
- Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- 10+ years in a similar role
- Experience within Alumina or heavy industry preferred.
- Demonstrated Auditing Experience
Key role responsibilities:
- Provision of expert EHS&T advice to the Capital Projects Construction Team and Contractors engaged in the delivery of works, to ensure that both the Alcoa Operational and Mandated Standards for Environment, Heath Safety and Training are achieved.
- Drive the delivery of ‘Best Practice’ initiative across the Large Capital Project portfolio.
- Provision of EHS&T Facilitation, coaching, and Guidance to deliver Construction goals and support Operations.
- Ensuring all Contractors are following the Alcoa EHS&T systems, procedures and protocols through verification controls such as audits, workplace inspections, review of EHS&T Plans, and ongoing monitoring of EHS&T KPI’s and metrics.
- Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with the Alcoa Policies and Procedures and Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994
- Lead and regularly update Project Risk Assessments
- Provide review of Contractors work methodologies to ensure risk are being adequately identified and suitable controls are implemented.
- Lead the Investigation processes and ensuring the close out of assigned actions.
