With our new acquisition of Daunia Mine, we are seeking a skilled Health, Safety & Environment Manager who will be accountable for delivering Whitehaven Coal's (WHC) Health, Safety & Environment strategic focus areas. You will champion the implementation of initiatives to deliver improvements in performance at the operation.
Reporting to the Site General Manager, you will ensure that processes are in place to maintain compliance with WHC Standards, legislative and statutory requirements. Further to this, you will support the operating General Manager's achieve improved HSE outcomes and maintain an effective emergency response.
What You'll Do
Contribute to the development of the WHC HSE business plan, deliver approved WHC HSE focus areas for the operations and champion the implementation of WHC HSE initiatives.
Provide technical advice to the operations leadership team on strategic HSE issues that may impact the operation.
Develop, implement, maintain and improve the operations Health, Safety & Environment Management System to ensure WHC HSE standards and legal requirements are met.
Coach operational leaders to challenge perceptions and partner with them to facilitate a psychologically safe operational culture.
Identify opportunities and support operations to improve efficiency, and increase value through the use of data and risk analysis.
Ensure HSE systems enable safe production.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor of Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science (or equivalent) (desired)
G2, G3, G7 (or equivalent) (desired)
ICAM investigation training
Extensive experience in an OH&S and/or environment role at a senior or superintendent level
OH&S and/or environmental experience within the mining industry
Knowledge of OH&S, environmental legislation and statutory requirements in QLD
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organisation
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Ability to pass a QLD Coal Board Medical
