About the opportunity

The primary purpose of this hands-on role is to provide support, advice and direction on risk and HSEQ leading practices and effectively deliver HSEQ initiatives and programs tailored to suit the specific requirements of the business, including partnering with the business to achieve its HSEQ objectives. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, your responsibilities include:

• Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the HSEQ Management System to achieve our HSEQ performance targets and maintain ISO Standards accreditation.
• Support all HSE aspects of site-based projects including being the primary contact to interact with client HSE representatives and understand project specific HSE requirements.
• Create project specific HSEQ Management Plans and support project teams working on site with all HSE matters including incident investigation and hazard identification.
• Review and evaluate our clients specific HSE requirements.
• Develop risk management programs, risk controls, monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness of key controls.
• Develop HSE competencies and integrate HSE initiatives into all relevant activities Including tender responses.
• Support the business’s leaders and manage the process for HSE incident reporting, investigation and close out of corrective actions within the business.
• Promote a safety-first culture within the business and a drive for continuous improvement in HSE performance.
• Facilitate and conduct risk assessments and the development of controls, including Construction Risk Assessment Workshop and associated actions for all site activities.
• Work with peers in other lines of business to ensure consistent messaging and application of HSE standards.
• Contribute to the development of internal HSE programs, partner with the business to deploy site inductions, inspections, and audits.  

About you

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience as a HSEQ Advisor, preferably working in a construction or resources/telecommunications industry.
• Previous responsibility for Quality systems is highly desirable
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (i.e. Diploma in Work Health and Safety) or substantial experience in HSE. 
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
• Ability to drive HSEQ processes and procedures onsite, sustaining a positive and supportive safety culture.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001/45001 requirements.
