HSEQ Manager

Pacific People Solutions are very pleased to partner with our valued client, Alpha HPA, to source a HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) Manager for their operation, based on site in Gladstone, Queensland.

Alpha HPA is an ASX-listed speciality metals and materials company. You will be working as part of a low environmental impact sustainable business, committed to supporting decarbonisation technologies with their innovative refining process.

This is a strategic and operational role and will see the successful candidate implementing & leading processes and procedures across the business, whilst supporting management with all HSEQ matters.

You will work strategically with the leadership team to drive a high-performance culture whilst managing the operational readiness for the Stage 2 Major Hazardous Facility  Plant Start-Up including licenses & approvals.

This role will require an experienced individual who is capable of providing advice, coaching and support to business leaders whilst continuing to develop a computerised safety system for operations works planning, isolations and permits to work. This will include all hazardous work permits and the maintenance of ISO systems for the current PPF as well as managing the process for extending certification to the Stage 2 MHF facility.

The HSEQ Managerwill report directly to the Yarwun Site Manager and will work closely with their operations & executive team as well as government agencies, regulators and other external stakeholders.

We would be really pleased to receive your application should you possess:

• Tertiary Qualifications in Chemical/Process/Materials Engineering or suitable Safety/Environment qualifications (noting extensive experience will be given consideration over a technical degree)
• 5+ years’ experience as a HSEQ Manager at a senior level with relevant experience in a chemical and/or mineral processing feasibility, construction management & operations
• Experience in the start-up of a large-scale hydrometallurgical facility from cold through to hot commissioning (preferred but not essential)
• Demonstrated ability in developing and managing safety systems in a Major Hazard Facility (mandatory)
• High energy, self-motivated with a proactive & resilient attitude
• Capable of working independently whilst managing internal & external stakeholders
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, influence and build relationships.

This business-critical role will require a motivated and capable individual who can drive projects whilst having the responsibility of site safety.

About Alpha HPAAlpha HPA Production Facility is the application of the company’s licensed Smart SX technology to produce a range of high purity aluminium products, most notably their Ultra High Purity Alumina, Ultra High Purity Precursors and Ultra Boehmite.

These products will provide the raw materials used by leading decarbonisation growth industries including LED lighting and lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
