We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Officer to join our dynamic team at our Dandenong South Manufacturing and Head Office location. With locations in most capital cities, some domestic travel will be required on an infrequent basis.
Experience in a manufacturing and/or on-site servicing of mechanical equipment would be a definite advantage. However, it’s your ability to create a safety focused culture through your positive influence and collaborative approach that matters.
This great opportunity can have you working close to home from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, plus availability to participate in after-hours online meetings when required.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating and providing support for all HSEQ activities, including the follow up of corrective action plan completion and other initiatives.
- Organising, participating and following up on audits and inspections
- Compliance with global, local and state regulations
- Analysis of HSEQ issues and develop recommendations to resolve business/process issues.
- Developing, updating and implementing HSEQ policies, procedures, practices and programs to meet organisational goals and ensure continuous improvement.
- Ensuring that the HSEQ activities of the business are recorded and retrievable in the most end user and auditor-friendly method as possible.
- Collating and making accessible to all staff all Health and Safety Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice as well as our Policies, Procedures, Forms, Checklists etc.
- Developing and implementing Safety Committees and review agenda items with the team.
- Collating and tracking Workplace Health and Safety metrics to measure Safety performance.
- Meeting with each Manager/location to discuss any Incidents lodged in AMMforce.
- Entering Rydell information into AMMsafe to ensure that AMMsafe records are accurate and complete.
- Developing and implementing an Audit and Inspection Process(s) and tracking completion(s).
- Identifying training Gaps in HSEQ Awareness and other programs.
- Making recommendations for HSEQ training for all employees or the organisation.
- Reviewing the Contractor Management System in partnership with Operations leadership.
- Reviewing a range of HSEQ processes for continuous improvement opportunities, e.g. Risk Assessments.
- Leading quality and safety engagement projects as required by the business.
- Establishing Wellness Programs including the organisation of Wellness Events.
You possess the following competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal skills and are a strong communicator
- Ability to know how to keep in constant communication with Manager on progress and issues
- Are adept at keeping Senior Management up to date with progress and any issues in their functional areas using data and statistics as well as observations
- Understanding of when to escalate issues for Senior Management intervention
- Cert IV in OHS
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment - advantage
- Comfortable following verbal and written instruction
- Ability to work with a level of ambiguity
- Ability to influence people positively
- Well-developed time management and planning skills to meet deadlines
- Strong work ethic
- Adaptable to the changing needs of the business and competing priorities
- Ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team when required
